The State Park was opened to the public in 1992 and is home to a sand lake campground provided with modern showers and bathrooms, as well as electricity for each site, and paved roads and paths. For activities you can lie out on the beach, swim in the pond, rent a boat or canoe, or go on a hike on one of the various trails. There is a concession that provides boat and playground equipment for sale.

The trail system can be used by mountain bikers, snowmobilers, cross country skiers and hikers. Trail lengths range from 0.30 miles to 1.80 miles long.
If you’re not interested in hiking, then Seven Lakes State Park is also ideal for boating, fishing, and hunting. Big Seven Lake is 170- acres and there is also the Dickinson which is 44- acres. Both can be accessed from both launch sites motors at no-wake speeds are permitted. For fishers, the lakes are full of bluegill, bass, pike, tiger muskie, and catfish, making fishing fun and exciting for fishers of all skill and ages. There is also a fishing pier that enables visitor to shore fish.
